Rep. Marc Catlin Returns from Trade Mission Trip to United Kingdom


Denver, Colorado – State Representative Marc Catlin, recently returned from England. The trip follows Governor Jared Polis’ trip to the United Kingdom in late May, which initiated pursuits to establish a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The United Kingdom and Colorado are looking to strengthen trade and economic development ties. Rep. Marc Catlin (R-HD58) and Rep. Karen McCormick (D-HD11) were the two state elected officials selected to participate in the trip to the United Kingdom. The State Representatives accompanied Colorado’s Department of Agriculture and Commissioner of Agriculture, Kate Greenberg.


The mission focused on exploring trade relations surrounding agriculture and natural resource related industries. The delegation spent a week speaking with both members of the House of Lords and House of Commons while also spending time with the departments of Business and Trade; Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO); and Department of Environment, Farming & Rural Affairs (DEFRA). The members of the delegation spent time touring the surrounding agriculture producing land outside of London, meeting with farmers and ranchers.


The United Kingdom and Colorado share priority focuses on soil health and other agriculture productivity research. The deepening relationship with the United Kingdom and Colorado will enhance the research being conducted by both governments.

Representative Catlin says, “It is an honor to be invited to represent Colorado in the United Kingdom. Meeting with their elected officials was a high point of the trip. The most memorable, exploring the land that has been farmed for 2,500 years, since the Romans and clear up to today. I am excited to see a relationship develop between Colorado ag. and the United Kingdom. We will be good trade partners with each other.”


Colorado State Representative Marc Catlin represents the eight counties of Dolores, Delta, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Montezuma, Montrose, Ouray, and San Miguel. Representative Catlin Vice Chairs Agriculture, Water, & Natural Resources Committee, is a member of the Capital Development Committee and is Ranking member of the Transportation, Housing & Local Government Committee.
